Guadalajara, Jalisco – May 2025 — After years of inspiring on and off the pitch, Jorge Campos—one of Mexico’s greatest football legends—officially launches the inaugural Jorge Campos International Tournament. Set to take place from September 12 to 15, 2025, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, the event will host soccer academies and youth clubs from all over Mexico and abroad.

Excitement has been high ever since the announcement, not only because the tournament bears the name of one of the country’s most beloved and charismatic players, but also due to its educational and social mission. This tournament is more than just a competition: it aims to positively impact children’s lives through sports, promoting values, health, and education in a safe, high-quality environment. “We want to send a clear message: the best place for our kids is in school and on the pitch,” said Campos during the event's launch. “This tournament is about shaping people, not just footballers.”

The tournament will feature both boys' and girls' categories, with age groups from 2010 to 2019, playing in 7v7 or 9v9 formats depending on age. Each team can register up to 18 players and three coaches. Every team is guaranteed at least three matches in the group stage or general table before advancing to knockout rounds. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in each category, and champions will receive free entry to the 2026 edition.

But the Jorge Campos International Tournament goes far beyond the scoreboard. Built on four pillars—soccer, education, healthy living, and fair play—the event will also feature talks on the connection between sports and academic performance, workshops to encourage healthy family habits, and activities focused on inclusion, emotional well-being, and respect on the field. Everything takes place in top-tier sports facilities, with national and international football legends joining Campos as special guests.

A highlight of the event will be a bootcamp for coaches, led by professionals from Liga MX clubs. There will also be a healthy food zone using a cashless system, specially designed for participants.

Through this effort, Jorge Campos aims to leave a legacy beyond the stadiums. His tournament is designed to be an annual platform for the comprehensive development of thousands of children, with soccer as the gateway to building better citizens. Because, as he’s shown throughout his career, you can compete with joy, discipline, and heart—and use sports as a powerful tool for social change.
